Romania is staging the IHF Women’s Youth World Championship for under‑18 teams from 29 July to 9 August 2026. The tournament will feature 32 national squads and a total of 116 matches across four host cities – Pitești, Mioveni, Craiova and Râmnicu Vâlcea. Pitești Arena will stage 32 games, including the quarter‑finals, semi‑finals, the bronze‑medal match and the final that will crown the world champion.

The Romanian U18 women’s team opened the competition at Pitești Arena on 29 July, defeating Uruguay 30‑16 in front of a supportive home crowd. Federation president Bogdan Voina called the event “one of the most important sports competitions Romania hosts this year,” stressing its role in showcasing the country’s ability to organise high‑level international events.

For matches in Craiova’s Polivalent Hall, the Dolj gendarmerie will ensure public order and safety, advising spectators on access routes, prohibited items and conduct.
