Romania to transition to standard time in October 2026

Romania will transition to standard time during the night of Saturday, October 24, to Sunday, October 25, 2026. At 04:00, clocks will be set back by 60 minutes to 03:00, resulting in Sunday having 25 civil hours.

Most digital devices, including mobile phones, computers, and smartwatches, will update automatically if set to automatic date and time. However, manual adjustments will be required for mechanical watches, classic wall clocks, and certain household appliances.

The change marks a return from UTC+3 to Eastern European Time (EET), which is UTC+2. While the term “winter time” is commonly used, the transition is technically a return to standard time. The timing follows European regulations, which mandate the end of daylight saving time on the last Sunday of October.

Although the European Commission proposed ending seasonal time changes in 2018, the practice remains in effect as legislative processes within the European Union have not yet finalized a permanent change.
