Romania tourism highlighted by journalist Charlie Ottley

British journalist and Romanian citizen Charlie Ottley is continuing his efforts to promote Romanian tourism through documentary filmmaking. Ottley, known for his BBC and Netflix projects ‘Wild Carpathia’ and ‘Flavours of Romania’, recently visited Craiova to film the Puppets Occupy Street festival.

During a meeting with Craiova Mayor Lia Olguța Vasilescu, Ottley highlighted the need for increased focus on Romanian tourism, noting the country's beauty and the architectural value of cities like Craiova. He also filmed the interiors of the Craiova City Hall for an upcoming documentary.

Other travelers have echoed similar sentiments, encouraging visitors to look beyond well-known landmarks like Bran Castle to discover the diversity of the country. Recommended destinations include medieval cities and fortified villages such as Brașov, Sighișoara, Sibiu, Viscri, Biertan, and Cluj-Napoca, as well as the Transfăgărășan road and rural areas in Maramureș.
