Romania tourism trends show falling seaside prices and lower mountain occupancy

Tourism trends in Romania show varying patterns between coastal and mountain destinations. In the seaside regions, September prices have seen a significant decrease compared to August. Average nightly rates have dropped by 21% to approximately 82 euros, while the average booking value has fallen by 31% to around 227 euros.

In coastal areas like Tuzla and Costinești, nightly rates are among the most affordable at approximately 56 euros. Conversely, premium destinations such as Jupiter and Cap Aurora maintain higher average booking values. Travelers choosing the coast in September include retirees, students, and families with young children.

In contrast, mountain tourism has faced challenges regarding accommodation occupancy. While mountain destinations attracted visitors, there has been a notable trend toward day trips rather than overnight stays. Data indicates a decrease in both the number of tourists and the total number of overnight stays in mountain resorts. Factors contributing to lower spending and shorter stays include reduced purchasing power and changes to holiday voucher values.
