Romania tutoring demand shifts toward specific subject needs

Demand for private tutoring in Romania is shifting toward more specific, targeted needs. Rather than seeking general subject assistance, students and parents are increasingly looking for help with particular chapters, specific classes, or preparation for particular exams.

Mathematics and Romanian remain the most requested subjects, followed by foreign languages. There has also been a notable rise in demand for biology and chemistry, driven by students preparing for medical school admissions. In the realm of foreign languages, while English remains the most popular, there is growing interest in less commonly taught languages for professional certification purposes.

Three distinct consumer profiles have emerged: parents of middle school students who prioritize scheduling flexibility, high school students who search independently based on subject level, and adults seeking language skills for professional advancement.

To address these specific needs, there is a growing trend toward one-on-one sessions and small study groups. In specialized preparation centers, groups are often limited to three to five students to allow for better interaction, personalized feedback, and the ability for teachers to track individual progress throughout the school year, particularly for long-term goals like the Baccalaureate exam.
