The Romanian U16 men's national basketball team experienced contrasting results during the EuroBasket U16 championship held in Oradea, Romania.

In their opening match of Group A, Romania suffered a significant defeat against Poland, losing with a final score of 62-105. Despite a strong second quarter where Romania outscored Poland 22-19, the team struggled in the third quarter, allowing Poland to build a substantial lead.

However, Romania secured its first victory of the tournament in its second Group A match by defeating the defending champions, Serbia, with a score of 75-73. The winning basket was scored by Sebastian Lăpuște in the final second. Lăpuște delivered a standout performance, recording 19 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists, and 4 steals. Eric Crăciun also contributed 19 points to the victory.
