Romania U16 basketball team reaches EuroBasket quarter-finals

The Romania U16 men's basketball team has qualified for the quarter-finals of the EuroBasket U16 Championship after defeating Turkey with a score of 71-62. This achievement marks the first time in 39 years that the Romanian national team has reached the top eight in Europe at this age level.

Hosted in Oradea, the tournament saw Romania navigate a challenging group stage. Following an initial loss to Poland, the team secured a victory against Serbia and a close overtime loss to Lithuania before overcoming Turkey in the knockout stage.

Sebastian Lăpuște delivered a standout performance during the victory against Turkey, recording 26 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, and 8 steals. Other notable contributors included Alexandru-Ștefan Hațegan with 16 points and Eric Crăciun with 12 points.
