Romania-US aviation cooperation discussed at CNAB meeting
On 24 July 2026, Bogdan Mîndrescu, director of the National Airport Company Bucharest (CNAB), met with U.S. Ambassador Darryl Nirenberg at CNAB headquarters. The two officials discussed major airport infrastructure projects, investment attraction, digitalisation, safety and security measures, and the possibility of establishing direct air routes between Romania and the United States. The dialogue was framed within the broader Romania‑U.S. Strategic Partnership, with Mîndrescu stating that closer ties with the United States would strengthen Bucharest’s role as a regional hub, stimulate economic and tourism exchanges, and generate new collaborative projects.
Both parties indicated that concrete cooperation could follow the meeting, potentially leading to new investments and increased trans‑Atlantic connectivity.
"We discussed the large infrastructure projects of CNAB and the prospects for developing relations with the United States," Mîndrescu said.
