Romania weather shifts from high heat to significant cooling
Romania is experiencing significant weather shifts as unseasonably warm temperatures give way to a cooling trend. Initially, temperatures in some regions, including Bucharest, reached between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius. However, meteorologists from the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) warn of a substantial cooling period starting this weekend.
As a cold air mass moves into the country, temperatures are expected to drop significantly across most regions, particularly in the north, northwest, and center. By the middle of next week, maximum temperatures may fall to between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius, with minimums reaching 2 degrees in certain areas. Increased precipitation and wind gusts of 45-60 km/h are also anticipated.
Additionally, the European storm system named ‘Felicia’ by the German Meteorological Service (DWD) is moving through Europe. While Romania will not be directly hit by the center of the storm, the system will contribute to changeable weather and cooling. Long-term forecasts suggest that snow may appear in high-altitude areas like Predeal around October 19, 2026.
