Romania weather: Heavy rain, snow, and dense fog warnings

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued several weather warnings across Romania, forecasting significant precipitation and reduced visibility through late October.

In mountainous regions, snow and sleet are expected at altitudes above 1,500 meters, with snow layers potentially reaching 10–15 centimeters in the Eastern and Southern Carpathians. Heavy rainfall is forecasted for several counties, including Tulcea, Constanța, Călărași, Ialomița, and Giurgiu, where accumulations may reach 20–30 liters per square meter, and isolated areas could see up to 40 liters.

Dense fog is affecting multiple regions, significantly reducing visibility to below 200 meters, and in some areas, below 50 meters. This phenomenon is impacting major highways, including the A0 (Bucharest Ring Road), A2 (Bucharest-Constanța), and A3 (Bucharest-Brașov), as well as various roads in 29 counties. Authorities have advised drivers to exercise extreme caution, reduce speeds, and use headlights during the day.

Temperatures are expected to decline across much of the country, with Bucharest seeing a drop in maximum temperatures to between 12 and 13 degrees Celsius. Wind gusts may reach 40–50 km/h in several regions, with mountain ridges seeing speeds exceeding 60–70 km/h.
