Romania weather alerts: heavy rain, snow, and wind expected

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued several weather warnings across Romania due to an approaching Mediterranean cyclone named Agneta. Significant rainfall, wind, and snow are expected through November 4.

In the southern and southeastern regions, including Dobrogea, Muntenia, and Oltenia, authorities have issued orange and yellow codes for heavy precipitation. In Constanța, rainfall may reach 40 to 60 liters per square meter. Wind gusts in southern and southeastern areas are expected to reach 40 to 50 km/h, with mountain ridge gusts potentially hitting 60 to 80 km/h.

Mountainous areas, particularly the Southern Carpathians at altitudes above 1,700 meters, are under alert for heavy snow, with accumulations estimated between 10 and 40 centimeters.

Additionally, the National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA) issued orange flood warnings for the Jiu, Gilort, and Motru river basins, affecting Gorj, Mehedinți, Vâlcea, and Argeș counties. These warnings highlight risks of rapid water level increases and flash floods.
