Romanian adolescents face rising insomnia and anxiety linked to screen use
A study conducted by the University of Bucharest on 499 students over eight years found that anxiety can begin with reading difficulties, highlighting an early mental‑health challenge among youth.
Separate research shows that at least one in two Romanian teenagers experience sleep problems, often driven by late‑night mobile phone use. Insomnia is associated with increased risk of depression, anxiety and reduced academic performance. Experts advise establishing a regular sleep schedule, avoiding screens for at least an hour before bedtime and seeking professional help if problems persist.
