Romanian and Hungarian defense chiefs discuss regional security

The Romanian and Hungarian Chiefs of Defence, General Gheorghiță Vlad and General Zsolt Sándor, met in Bucharest to discuss regional security and bilateral military cooperation. The discussions focused on strengthening NATO’s deterrence and defense posture on the Alliance’s Eastern Flank.

Key topics included expanding joint training, increasing participation in multinational exercises, and enhancing military mobility. The leaders highlighted the success of the Romanian-Hungarian Mixed Peace Support Battalion and regional cooperation through the multinational TISA Engineer Battalion. General Vlad emphasized that the security of the region requires dialogue and the ability for the two allied neighboring nations to act together through concrete projects relevant to current security requirements.
