Romanian arts universities launch new academic year
Romanian arts institutions are commencing the new academic year with various expansion and modernization initiatives. At Ovidius University in Constanța, the Faculty of Arts is planning to introduce new study programs, including theatre directing, film directing, and music. Dean Daniela Vitcu noted continued collaborations with local cultural institutions, such as the State Theatre and the Opera, to provide students with practical stage experience.
In Bucharest, the National University of Theatre and Film (UNATC) is opening the academic year under the motto ‘UNATC Matters’ with a ceremony at the Bucharest National Opera. The university is also inaugurating ‘Insula UNATC 2.0’, an infrastructure modernization project funded by Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan. This project aims to transform campus spaces into modern pedestrian areas dedicated to education and social activities.
