Romanian AUR councilor Nicolae Milcă fails Bac exam again, faces fraud probe

Nicolae Milcă, a 39‑year‑old local councilor for the AUR party in Motru, did not pass the 2026 Bacalaureat exam for a second time. The local newspaper Gorj Online reported that police opened a fraud investigation after receiving information that Milcă may have brought an electronic device into the exam hall to receive the answers. He was questioned by police at the end of the previous week.

Despite lacking a high‑school diploma, Milcă holds several elected positions: member of the Council’s Legal and Discipline Commission, president of the Environment, Tourism and Commerce Commission, and the city’s representative on the College’s Quality Assurance Commission, which monitors school education standards. He has led the local AUR organization since November 2025 and previously worked for the public company Direcția Publică Motru SA before running a firm that installs heating systems. Authorities have not confirmed the fraud allegations, and the investigation remains ongoing.
