Romanian authorities issue second RO‑Alert after drone breaches Tulcea airspace

On Monday afternoon, the Romanian Ministry of National Defence confirmed that an unidentified aerial object entered Romanian airspace near the town of Sulina in Tulcea County, close to the border with Ukraine. In response, the civil protection authority sent a second RO‑Alert message to residents of northern Tulcea, warning of possible falling debris and advising people to stay indoors, seek shelter in basements or civil protection shelters, and avoid windows for an estimated 90‑minute period.

The alert was issued as a precautionary measure while defence monitoring systems continued to track the incident throughout the day. Authorities emphasized that the message aims to inform the public quickly and reduce risk in case fragments from the drone reach Romanian territory. The RO‑Alert system delivers urgent information directly to mobile phones in the targeted area.

Local officials urged residents to follow the instructions and remain in safe locations until the alert expires. The incident reflects heightened aerial activity along the Romania‑Ukraine frontier, prompting heightened vigilance by national defence and emergency services.
