Romanian authorities urged to inspect illegal Szekely gates in Covasna
An anonymous complainant sent a request to the Bucharest‑based Romanian State Building Supervision asking for an inspection of numerous ornamental "Szekely gates" erected over county and communal roads in Covasna County. The letter lists gates in villages such as Dálnok, Lemhény, Torja, Gelence, Szentkatolna, Kézdiszárazpatak, Kisborosnyó, Nagyborosnyó, Magyarhermány, Papolc and Uzon, claiming they were built without building or other permits, block drainage ditches, endanger road integrity and create serious traffic‑safety risks. The complainant, signing as Barabás László, provided a hospital address that could not be verified. Mild Zoltán, head of the Covasna branch of the building supervision, forwarded the request to the respective local councils, urging them to identify the structures, supply copies of any permits, or report measures taken, and to impose fines and order demolition where necessary.
