Romanian Auto Registry issues vehicle safety and equipment guidance

The Romanian Auto Registry (RAR) has issued guidance regarding essential vehicle safety equipment, emphasizing the importance of accessibility and maintenance. Drivers are advised to store fire extinguishers in easily reachable locations rather than under luggage, as rapid response is critical during vehicle fires.

RAR recommends purchasing only certified products from the registry or similar recognized international organizations to ensure technical safety standards. Additionally, drivers should regularly check the expiration dates of fire extinguishers and first aid kits, as legislation allows traffic police to issue sanctions for expired equipment. While reflective vests are mandatory for vehicles over 3.5 tons, they are not a legal requirement for standard passenger cars.
