June ended with tourist arrivals exceeding expectations on Romania's Black Sea coast. According to Corina Martin, president of the tourism association RESTO, about 90,000 visitors arrived in the last weekend, reaching roughly 80% of the coast’s accommodation capacity—a recovery after a 40‑45% drop at the season start. Operators expect occupancy to approach 100% within weeks and forecast August to be the busiest month.
The youthful resort of Vama Veche became a focal point for thousands of recent high‑school graduates celebrating the end of the bacalaureate exams, with many travelling several hours to enjoy the beach before returning to study. This surge of visitors contributes to the overall optimistic outlook for the summer season.
