Romanian Black Sea ports closed due to severe storms
Authorities have suspended operations at Romania’s Black Sea ports, including Constanța, Midia, and Mangalia, due to extreme weather conditions. As of November 3, 2026, approximately 30 vessels remain waiting to load or discharge cargo as maritime navigation remains unsafe.
The Romanian Naval Authority reported that vessel movements at Constanța were suspended on November 2, following earlier restrictions at Mangalia and Midia. The region is experiencing high winds reaching force 7 to 8 on the Beaufort scale, fog, and waves exceeding four meters in the open sea.
In addition to maritime disruptions, an orange weather warning has been issued for Constanța County, with rainfall forecasts reaching up to 90 mm in some areas. A red flood warning is also in effect for rivers in eastern Constanța County, south of the Danube–Black Sea Canal. Resumption of port operations depends on improving weather conditions.
