Romanian businessman Dan Sucu's secret police informant dossier released

The National Council for the Study of the Archives of the Security (CNSAS) disclosed two volumes of archive R303384 belonging to Dan Șucu, the patron of the Rapid Bucharest football club. The files show that, under the codename “Mircea Crișan”, he acted as an informant for the Communist secret police (Securitatea) from June 1984 until November 6 1989, delivering at least 58 written reports about foreign tourist groups and other matters. The dossier includes his signed commitment to cooperate fully with the service and to keep his role secret. He was never legally declared a collaborator, and the records stop shortly before the fall of Ceaușescu, with no evidence of termination, suggesting he may have continued his cooperation after the 1990 transition, possibly under the successor agency SRI. The revelations raise questions about his post‑communist activities and his role at Rapid.
