Romanian Chess Federation Schedules 2026 Veteran Championship and Mihai Eminescu Festival

The Romanian Chess Federation announced two major events for 2026. The 39th edition of the Mihai Eminescu Chess Festival will be held in Roșieni, Dobrun, on 28‑29 August 2026. Organized by the Dobrun mayor Cristian Bondrescu, the local school and the federation, the tournament honors the memory of professor Nicolae Bădiță. A total prize fund of 12,400 lei will be awarded across an A (rated) and B (unrated) competition, with entry fees of 50 lei and 20 lei respectively.

The National Veteran Chess Championship is scheduled for 5‑12 July 2026 in the spa town of Geoagiu Băi, Hunedoara County. The event will feature classic, rapid, blitz and solving sections for senior players, with detailed results already posted for each category.
