Romanian churches launch school supply drives for vulnerable children
Religious institutions in Romania are launching humanitarian campaigns to support children from vulnerable families ahead of the new school year.
In Arad, the Holy Trinity Metropolitan Cathedral and the social-philanthropic sector of the Arad Archbishopric have initiated the ‘A Backpack for a Smile’ campaign. Running from August 23 to September 6, the project aims to prepare 100 backpacks for children in need. Donors can contribute new or high-quality used backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, and other essential school supplies, or participate in the ‘Adopt a Backpack’ initiative to provide fully equipped kits.
Similarly, in Botoșani, the Vovidenia Parish has launched its ‘A Backpack for Everyone’ campaign. Coordinated by Parish Priest Partenie Apostoaie, the initiative seeks to collect new, fully equipped backpacks and stationery to assist children from disadvantaged communities across various educational levels, from kindergarten through middle school.
