Romanian cinemas host Persepolis tribute screenings and TIFF retrospective

Three cinemas in Romania – Cinema Arta in Cluj‑Napoca, Apollo111 in Bucharest and Cinema Studio in Timișoara – will show the animated film Persepolis on 27‑28 June, a special tribute following the death of creator Marjane Satrapi. The screenings commemorate Satrapi’s graphic‑novel memoir of the Iranian Revolution, which won the Cannes Jury Prize and earned an Oscar nomination.

Later in July, the Transilvania International Film Festival brings a selection of its 25th‑edition programmes to Bucharest’s Cinema Elvire Popesco from 9‑12 July. The retrospective, titled TIFF 25, includes award‑winner Lionel, cult classic Donnie Darko, and other international titles such as Bulk, The Father’s Shadow and Străinul, with ticket sales now open online.
