Romanian cities inaugurate Aquapark in Buzău and historic water tower in Timișoara
The Buzău City Hall announced that the long‑delayed Aquapark, financed through a 61 million‑lei bank loan, is expected to open around the 2028 local elections. Mayor Constantin Toma presented two council decisions to shift part of the 2024 credit to a new 2026 loan, extending the repayment period to 2040.
In Timișoara, the 112‑year‑old Iosefin water tower was officially opened on Timișoara Day after extensive restoration. Mayor Dominic Fritz highlighted the technical and contractual challenges, including the termination of the first contractor and a legal dispute. The tower will serve as a tourist viewpoint and a small‑scale cultural venue, with guided weekend visits and a capacity of about 60 people, plus a planned café on the ground floor.
