Romanian cities invest in urban green spaces and recreational infrastructure

Several Romanian municipalities are advancing projects to enhance urban green spaces and recreational infrastructure.

In Teiuș, the “Locul Târgului” area is set to be transformed into an urban recreational park covering over 21,000 square meters. The project, costing more than 8.18 million lei, is funded through the “Regiunea Centru” 2021–2027 Program with significant support from the European Regional Development Fund. The development aims to create multifunctional green spaces, including themed gardens and plantations, with implementation scheduled between August 2026 and June 2028.

In Timișoara, plans are underway to develop the Pădurea Verde forest area with an investment exceeding 16 million lei. The proposed improvements include suspended walkways, bicycle tracks, a pumptrack, and rest areas such as benches and swings. The project, a collaboration between the Timișoara City Hall and Romsilva, emphasizes nature protection through the installation of birdhouses and educational panels. Local council approval of the feasibility study is required before the design phase begins.
