Radu Drăgușin to join Fiorentina from Tottenham on loan with obligation to buy
Romanian centre‑back Radu Drăgușin is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Serie A side Fiorentina. The clubs have agreed a season‑long loan that includes a €1.5 million loan fee and an obligatory purchase clause worth between €17.5 million and €21.4 million, depending on the number of appearances he makes for the Viola. Tottenham will also retain a 10 % sell‑on clause on any future sale.
Drăgușin, who struggled for playing time at Spurs after a serious ACL injury and made 48 appearances across all competitions, was signed by Tottenham from Genoa in January 2024 for around €28 million. Fabio Paratici, now Fiorentina’s sporting director and former Tottenham executive, negotiated the deal. The player turned down a €6 million‑per‑year offer from Fenerbahçe to return to Italy.
A medical examination in Florence is scheduled for early July, after which the contract is expected to be signed. The signing bolsters Fiorentina’s defence and may prompt the club to reshuffle its existing centre‑backs, while the funds from the transfer aid Tottenham’s ongoing squad rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi.
