Romanian companies face widespread financial vulnerabilities

A report by business consultancy TPC Concept reveals that 60% of companies in Romania exhibit at least two financial vulnerabilities that threaten their liquidity, profitability, and development. These issues primarily stem from low capitalization, high indebtedness, and a reliance on short-term financing, including supplier credit.

Key vulnerabilities identified include undercapitalization, which limits the ability to absorb economic shocks, and pressure on working capital caused by large receivables and slow-moving inventory. Additionally, inefficient asset utilization and uncompetitive wage policies may hinder talent retention.

The most significant risks are concentrated in sectors with low margins and high fixed costs, such as trade, construction, transport, and parts of the manufacturing industry. In these sectors, high levels of receivables and inventory can rapidly exacerbate financial imbalances if collections slow down or financing costs increase.
