Romanian Competition Council investigates printer and surveillance market

The Romanian Competition Council has launched an investigation into three companies regarding potential anti-competitive agreements in the printer, imaging, and electronic security systems markets. The companies under investigation are Konica Minolta Business Solutions Romania SRL, General Systems SRL, and General Systems & Distribution SRL.

Authorities suspect the firms may have conspired to fix resale prices, divide markets, and prohibit exports. Following authorization from the Bucharest Court of Appeal, the Council conducted unannounced inspections at the headquarters and various work locations of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Romania SRL to seize relevant documents for analysis.

If the investigation confirms violations of competition rules, the involved companies face potential fines of up to 10% of their total turnover. The Council noted that these inspections do not constitute a formal finding of guilt.
