Romanian counties launch free dog sterilisation and microchipping campaigns

The Ilfov County Animal Protection Directorate announced a free sterilisation and microchipping campaign for owned dogs scheduled for 23‑24 July in Moara Vlăsiei, following earlier sessions on 13‑17 July in Măgurele, Gruiu and Ciorogârla and additional dates in nearby localities through late July. The programme also includes free sterilisation of female cats in Jilava from 20‑22 July, supported by the Susy Utzinger Stiftung.

The Cluj County Council is extending its microchipping, registration and sterilisation programme for owned dogs, allocating an extra 300,000 lei to treat up to 604 dogs. Contracts will be awarded to veterinary providers across eight geographic lots covering dozens of communes. Services include implantable microchips, entry into the County Dog Registry and surgical sterilisation (ovariohysterectomy for females, orchiectomy for males).
