Romanian County Council President Florin Mitroi Summoned as Witness After Searches
On 30 July 2026, prosecutors and the Economic Police conducted searches at the home of Florin Mitroi, president of the Constanța County Council, and at the headquarters of the company in which he holds shares. The raids, coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, resulted only in the seizure of financial and accounting documents; no cash or valuable assets were found.
Later that evening Mitroi appeared at the General Prosecutor’s Office in Bucharest and was examined as a witness. He declared, “Nu am nimic de ascuns,” and expressed willingness to cooperate with investigators, emphasizing that the inquiries do not relate to his duties as council president. The council’s activities continued without interruption.
The investigation focuses on the commercial activities of Mitroi’s firm, not on his public functions, and the council has assured the public that its operations remain normal.
