Romanian county football bodies open registration for 2026‑27 season

The Arad County Football Association (AJF Arad) announced plans for the 2026‑27 season, proposing a 12‑team Liga 4 with a play‑off (positions 1‑4) and play‑out (positions 5‑12) system, guaranteeing each club at least 28 official matches. Liga 5 will feature two series of 16 teams, while Liga 6 will be organised depending on the number of entries. A new Under‑17 junior championship will be introduced, and clubs in Liga 5 will be required to field at least one Under‑19 player in every match. AJF Arad also highlighted the need for clubs to settle any outstanding debts before the season starts and mentioned recent European‑funded projects supporting youth coaching and equipment.

Meanwhile, the Argeș County Football Association (AJF Argeș) opened registration for its 2026‑27 competitions on 15 July, running until 14 August. Clubs must submit documentation confirming identity, tax status, updated statutes, suitable facilities, and a contract with a coach holding a UEFA C licence or equivalent. Financial guarantees are set at 2,000 lei for Liga 4, 1,500 lei for Liga 5, and lower amounts for junior categories. The season is slated to begin at the end of August, with the transfer window running from 17 June to 8 September.
