Soroca hosts 15th National Apple Festival in Moldova

The 15th edition of the National Apple Festival was held in Soroca, Moldova, organized by the Soroca District Council in partnership with the local municipality and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event featured a parade of participants, exhibitions of various apple varieties, and traditional culinary displays where local administrations prepared dishes using apples as the primary ingredient.

Beyond celebrating local pomiculture, the festival aimed to promote modern cultivation technologies and facilitate experience exchanges among farmers. A notable attraction was the creation of the largest apple pie by the Soroca District Council.

However, local producers highlighted significant economic challenges. Despite a bountiful harvest, farmers reported that low market prices and high logistics costs are impacting profitability. Some producers noted that prices for juice apples have dropped significantly compared to previous years, creating a difficult situation for maintaining long-term operations.
