Romania and Moldova host cultural and academic events

Romania and Moldova are hosting various cultural and academic events. The Romanian Academy and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova will hold a joint celebration for Romanian Language Day on August 31, featuring lectures on linguistic evolution, identity, and the role of language in the European cultural space.

In Bucharest, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel is scheduled to present her memoirs, ‘LIBERTATE. Amintiri 1954–2021’, through public meetings and an autograph session at the Romanian Athenaeum. Additionally, the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) is organizing a cultural marathon across Bucharest and international branches, including Tel Aviv and Warsaw, to mark Romanian Language Day.

Other notable cultural activities include the launch of four memoir volumes by archaeologist Sabin Adrian Luca at Făgăraș Citadel, and commemorations for the 170th anniversary of Ioan Bianu’s birth organized by the Library of the Romanian Academy. Local initiatives also include book donations by the Alba County Library and graphic arts workshops in Arad.
