Romanian Culture Minister announces helmet restoration and social inclusion initiatives
Romanian Culture Minister Ioana Ciocan has announced that the Coțofenești helmet, which was stolen in the Netherlands and subsequently recovered, is scheduled to be displayed to the public on January 15 for Culture Day. The artifact is currently undergoing final restoration at the National Museum of Romanian History (MNIR) by specialist Alexandru Doja, supported by a team of ten experts including precious metal specialists from the Netherlands.
In her first official visit since taking office, Ciocan also visited the Ferentari Studios to observe the Showcase SF 2026 project. This initiative uses theater and educational programs to support children and youth from vulnerable communities, aiming to foster creativity, communication skills, and social inclusion while combating school dropout rates. Ciocan emphasized the importance of art as a tool for education and urged citizens to support Romanian culture by purchasing tickets to museums, theaters, and operas.
