Romanian customs workers plan warning strike on June 16

The National Meridian union, representing employees of the Romanian Customs Authority, announced a two‑hour warning strike on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, from 12:00 to 14:00. Union officials say the action is meant to highlight serious grievances over working conditions and professional and salary rights.

Key demands include the signing of a collective labour agreement, better provisions in the new salary law for border staff and dog‑handler personnel, compensation for work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and a radiation hazard premium for staff operating non‑destructive testing equipment. The union urges Romanian authorities to resume negotiations and address these longstanding issues.
