Romanian Defense Chief and Advisor Meet Trump Administration in Washington
Presidential security adviser Marius‑Gabriel Lazurca announced that President Nicușor Dan sent him and the Romanian Army chief, General Gheorghiță Vlad, to Washington, D.C. Their mission is to meet officials of the Trump administration and Congressional leaders to reinforce security cooperation in the Black Sea region.
The delegation follows a series of recent incidents in which Romanian F‑16 pilots shot down three Russian‑manufactured Shahed drones that entered Romanian airspace near Sulina and Padina. No casualties or material damage were reported. The meetings are intended to discuss these drone incursions, the broader threat environment, and the ongoing partnership between Romania and the United States.
