Romanian deputies clash over Mykonos luxury flight inquiry

Members of the USR party protested in the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, demanding the establishment of a parliamentary inquiry commission dubbed ‘Mykonos-Nordis’. The proposed investigation seeks to examine luxury flights to Mykonos and Nice involving politicians, institutional heads, a CCR judge, and a convicted businessman.

During the session, USR leader Diana Stoica accused the assembly of violating the law and the Constitution by failing to hold a vote on the commission request, which had been submitted by both USR and PNL three weeks prior. The request was ultimately rejected by the Permanent Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies.

PSD Deputy Florin Manole, who was a passenger on the private flight to Mykonos, defended the trip during a right of reply. He stated that the travel was funded by the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR) rather than public funds, asserting that ‘public money used in this flight was zero lei’.
