Romanian 'Ie' Day Marks Cultural Celebration in Romania and Abroad

June 24 is observed as the Universal Day of the Romanian "ie", the traditional blouse that symbolizes national identity. The celebration has grown from its 2012 online launch to worldwide recognition, including a 2015 proclamation in Washington D.C. and UNESCO’s 2022 inclusion of the "art of the embroidered shirt" in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

In Luxembourg, the Romanian Orthodox parish organized a festive ceremony after the Divine Liturgy, featuring choirs, a large gathering of parishioners in traditional costume, a communal meal, and the attendance of Romanian Ambassador Livia‑Alexandrina Russu.
