Romanian drivers favor gray cars, RAR data shows

The Romanian Auto Registry (RAR) reported that gray was the most common colour on both new and used vehicles registered in Romania in 2025. New‑car registrations listed 102,378 gray cars, while used‑car registrations also placed gray at the top of the list.

For new cars the next most popular colours were white (66,562), blue (33,680), black (33,069) and red (30,004). For used cars the order was gray, black, white, blue and red. Violet was the least common, appearing on only 2,790 vehicles across both categories.

Globally, neutral tones continued to dominate new‑car production in 2025, with white accounting for 29% of cars, black 23% and gray 22% according to the BASF Color Report. The Romanian pattern mirrors this worldwide trend, though gray ranks higher locally than the global average.
