Romania raises minimum wage and enforces salary‑transparency in job ads

From 1 July 2026 Romania’s gross minimum wage will rise to 4 325 lei, a 6.8 % increase that raises net pay for low‑paid workers and lifts employers’ labour‑costs. The change also raises the cost of buying pension seniority, with a year of additional contribution expected to rise from 12 150 lei to about 12 975 lei.

A new EU‑derived law that took effect on 7 June 2026 obliges employers to publish the salary range in recruitment ads. About 40 % of the 17 000 vacancies listed on eJobs now show a salary, roughly 6 600 positions, mainly in services, retail and transport‑logistics. The first two weeks after the rule took effect saw around 4 000 new ads with salaries disclosed, up to five percentage points from the previous level. Employers report a slow adaptation but note a 40 % higher application rate for posts with visible pay.

The national employment agency ANOFM records 31 171 vacant jobs across Romania, ranging from drivers and construction labourers to qualified professionals such as engineers and doctors. The data are updated in real time and also include 195 vacancies advertised through the EURES network in other European countries.
