Romanian experts unveil insulin‑focused and portion‑cutting weight‑loss strategies
Cardiologist and cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Gheorghe Cerin promotes the "Cerin diet," which prioritises insulin control over calorie counting. The plan limits high‑glycemic foods such as white bread, potatoes, rice, sweets, sugary drinks and beer, while encouraging vegetables, fish, lean meat, nuts and seeds. Cerin states, “Bolnavul slăbește și nu suferă de foame,” and adds, “Hormonul obezității este insulina.”
Nutritionist Mihaela Bilic advises a simpler approach: halve portion sizes while keeping favourite dishes. She argues that the secret to weight loss is “cât mănânci, nu ce mănânci.” Bilic illustrates, “Dacă până acum mâncai doi ardei umpluţi și de mâine vei mânca unul singur…,” showing how reducing portions can lower caloric intake without eliminating preferred foods.
