Locarno Film Festival awards Golden Leopard to Romanian film

The 79th Locarno Film Festival has concluded, with the top prize, the Golden Leopard (Pardo d’Oro), awarded to the Romanian film ‘Nu e locul tau aici’ (‘You Don’t Belong Here’) directed by Florin Șerban. The drama explores the strained relationship between a single father and his teenage son.

Other major winners include the Special Jury Prize, which went to the Brazilian-German co-production ‘A Margem do Rio’ (‘The Riverbank’) by Matheus Farias and Enock Carvalho. South Korean director Hong Sang-soo received the award for Best Director for ‘Nun Dul Dega Eomne’ (‘Nowhere to Lay My Eyes’).

In the acting categories, Kim Min-hee won for her performance in Hong Sang-soo’s film, while Italian actress Monica Bellucci was honored for her role in the Italian youth drama ‘Ketticè’. Additionally, Alessandra Sanguinetti won the Golden Leopard for the Cineasti del Presente competition with ‘The Illusion of an Everlasting Summer’.
