Romanian football faces legislative updates and club promotion hurdles
The Romanian Parliament has overwhelmingly approved a legislative proposal to grant merit indemnities to members of the football team that won the European Cup. The initiative received 253 favorable votes out of 254 present. Tudorel Stoica expressed satisfaction with the decision, noting that while the specific amount is less important than the recognition of their achievements, the final step requires promulgation by the President.
Separately, Steaua is facing regulatory hurdles regarding its promotion to Liga 1. Due to the Sports Law, public law entities are restricted from competing in the top tier without partnering with a private entity. Tudorel Stoica indicated that discussions with potential investors are underway and that a resolution may be near, though the outcome remains dependent on government and ministerial decisions.
