Romanian gendarmerie deploys forces to weekend events in Dâmbovița and Maramureș

The Romanian Gendarmerie will be on duty at a series of public events across two counties this weekend. In Dâmbovița County, gendarmes will patrol venues such as the BikeXpert Alpine Challenge mountain‑bike race, the Forest Fest cultural festival, the communal celebrations in Șotânga and Braniștea, and a second‑division football match between Chindia Târgoviște and Metaloglobus Bucharest on 9 August. Their duties include preventing antisocial behaviour, protecting participants and ensuring public order.

In Maramureș County, gendarmes will similarly oversee large gatherings, including the Rock&Road Weekend festival in Băiuț (6‑9 August), the Hard Enduro Cupșeni sport event, the MotoFest in Borșa, and the Baia Mare “Trăiește Vara” cultural program. Authorities advise attendees to respect organisers’ rules, avoid violence, keep valuables concealed and watch over children.

Both deployments aim to safeguard crowds, deter incidents and maintain a safe environment for the numerous cultural and sporting activities scheduled this weekend.
