Romanian Government to Reinstate Mandatory Online Publication of Asset Declarations

Ilie Bolojan said the government will back the original draft of the asset‑declaration law that requires institutions to post declarations on their websites. The proposal, delayed beyond the first quarter of the year, was altered after Cătălin Predoiu became interim justice minister, removing the publication requirement and sparking controversy. Bolojan pledged to reverse that change, stating: “Guvernul va susține în Parlament ca forma adoptată să fie cea prin care declarațiile de avere să fie publicate în mod obligatoriu pe site‑ul instituției.” The executive will push the reverted version in parliamentary committees.

The amendment had been debated with political parties, leading to several revisions, but the government now aims to ensure full transparency by restoring the mandatory online posting of asset declarations.
