Romanian Grandparents' Day observed in Oradea cathedral and Hunedoara

On the eighth Sunday after Pentecost, Greek‑Catholic Bishop Virgil Bercea presided over an archiepiscopal Divine Liturgy at Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Oradea. The service honored the World Grandparents’ Day, drawing many elderly worshippers, grandchildren and priests, and highlighted the role of grandparents in preserving faith and church memory.

In Hunedoara County, the same holiday was commemorated through personal reflections on family journeys. The narrative recalls children’s train trips to grandparents’ homes across towns such as Teiuș, Aiud, Războieni and Cluj‑Napoca, emphasizing the emotional bond and cultural significance of grandparents in Romanian life.
