Romanian Health Experts Advise Cholesterol‑Lowering Dinner and Red Yeast Rice
Nutrition specialists in Romania recommend a quick, fiber‑rich dinner to help lower LDL cholesterol. The suggested recipe is oven‑baked salmon tacos with corn, avocado and peppers, providing about nine grams of fiber and only three grams of saturated fat per serving. Jamie Baham, RDN, says, “This meal is a great source of fiber and omega‑3, making it ideal for people with high cholesterol.”
Separately, dietitian Mihaela Bilic highlights red yeast rice, a fermented rice product containing monacolin K, a compound chemically similar to the prescription statin lovastatin. She advises sedentary individuals to consider the supplement as an addition to a balanced diet and regular exercise, noting it does not replace medical treatment. Both experts stress that dietary changes and physical activity remain the primary tools for managing elevated cholesterol levels.
