Romanian historical records reveal Vlad Țepeș charter and Bucharest origins
Historical research and commemorations highlight significant milestones in Romanian and international history. In Romania, researchers from the National Archives of Romania have detailed a charter issued by Vlad Țepeș during his second reign (1456-1462). Written in Slavonic on parchment in the Bucharest citadel, the document marks the first documentary mention of Bucharest. The charter granted various properties to Andrei and his sons, providing them with exemptions from various taxes and duties.
Other historical markers include the 1864 signing of the Decree for the establishment of Chambers of Commerce and Industry by Alexandru Ioan Cuza, aimed at modernizing the Romanian state and connecting it to the Western capitalist economic system.
Internationally, historical anniversaries noted include the 1791 premiere of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera ‘Die Zauberflöte’ in Vienna, the 1846 first painless tooth extraction using ether in Boston, and the 1863 premiere of Georges Bizet’s opera ‘Les pêcheurs de perles’ in Paris.
