Romanian hospitals provide free spirometry tests ahead of World Lung Cancer Day

On July 24 the Pneumology Hospital in Sibiu offered free spirometry for two hours during the Equilibrium Fest Summer event, part of a series of actions marking World Lung Cancer Day on August 1. The service evaluates lung function, gives advice on respiratory health and targets smokers and people with persistent symptoms. A hospital spokesperson said the campaign is intended as an “alarm signal about the importance of prevention and lung health.”

The Tudor Vladimirescu Pneumology Hospital in Dobrița also announced free pulmonary investigations, including spirometry, peak‑flow, bronchodilator testing and other exams, available to patients with a referral and reimbursed by the national health insurance. Doctors highlighted the need for early diagnosis of conditions such as pneumonia, asthma, COPD and lung cancer, urging anyone with ongoing cough, breathlessness or a smoking history to seek evaluation.
